BLQ come to Best Video

cropped-blq-icon2.jpg Hello everyone! First we would like to thank all the intrepid snow bunnies who braved the weather to come out and see us last Saturday at Scottish Dave’s. We had a fantastic time! And we will be back at Dave’s in February.
This week though, we are very excited to play, for our first time, at one of CT’s most loved and iconic venues, Best Video Film & Cultural Center in Hamden.
If you have never been you are missing out on something great!

Since 1985, Best Video, founded by Hank Paper, has served the southern Connecticut community at several locations on Whitney Avenue in Hamden. The store has been at its current location, 1842 Whitney Ave. since 2001. Best Video features a DVD archive in excess of 30,000 titles, comprising a wealth of classic, foreign, independent, cult, contemporary and children’s titles.

On Nov. 1, 2015, after 30 years in business, owner Hank Paper sold the assets of the store to the recently formed nonprofit Best Video Film & Cultural Center.

BVFCC intends to maintain the exceptional and deep archive of movies created by Hank Paper as a resource for the local community of academics, educators and film aficionados. The programming of film and music events in the Performance Space will be continued and expanded. As well, BVFCC will continue to operate the cafe—serving great coffee, wine and beer, and pastries from Bread & Chocolate—as an adjunct to event programming and a vibrant meeting place for members of the local community.

The cover is $10, we will be on Thursday night (30th) from 8pm to 9:30pm.
Visit the event page and let us know we will see you there!
Until then here is a great video taken at Scottish Dave’s of the jazz classic “You go to my head”.

See you Thursday!!

  1. Well, first & foremost, nice to know you’re feeling much better & kicking out the jams with the band, again. So it’s a maiden voyage for Best Video,is it? Best Video (or as I refer it as BV these days) has become a favourite spot to check out live music these days (I was just there this past Saturday night to see some mates of mine play…a well spent evening it was 😁). I will actually be knocking about in the Bay State this weekend, so Thursday night is a bit of a question mark. The chances of spotting my ugly mug in Middletown next weekend sounds hands down (it should be an inspired evening of chaos, anarchy & cocktails (not to mention cracking rude, snotty jokes about hipsters 😀). If not this Thursday, then next Saturday. Daithe
